 "El misterio de los paraísos fiscales no está en aquellos países sino en el corazón de las finanzas de los países industrializados". Así lo expuso hoy el profesor titular de Sociología de la Universidad Complutense, Armando Fernández Steinko, uno de los expertos reunidos hoy por la UNED y el Observatorio de Responsabilidad Social Corporativa en el edificio de Escuelas Pías (Barrio de Lavapiés, Madrid).
Mientras que la presidenta de la Comisión de Responsabilidad Social de la UNED, Marta de la Cuesta, explicó que el negocio de los paraísos fiscales supone que 250.000 millones de euros escapan a la fiscalidad, Fernández Steinko destacó la importancia de que se resuelva un "pacto" entre clases medias y clases superiores para recaudar impuestos, en vez de dejar la financiación de los Estados a los bonos que, casi siempre, se hace a través de paraísos fiscales.
Por su parte, Alejandro González Bescansa, adjunto al Jefe de Área de Investigación General de la Agencia Tributaria (ONIF), destacó que, durante 2009, se han firmado más de 300 acuerdos de intercambio de información entre los países miembros de la OCDE porque la presión sobre ellos, como consecuencia de la crisis financiera, es "muy fuerte".
El profesor de Economía en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Arcadi Oliveres, cifró en 16 billones de dólares el dinero "escondido" en paraísos fiscales y citó un informe de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra que cuantificó en 80.000 millones de euros la economía sumergida en España. Arcadi Oliveres y Armando Fernández son colaboradores en el programa de radio UNED, la mirada indiscreta.
Las jornadas también contemplan la participación del fiscal David Martínez Madero, director de la Oficina Antifrau de Catalunya, y Juan Hernández Vigueras, miembro del Consejo Científico de Attac y autor de la publicación "La Europa opaca de las finanzas".
