Audaz, intrépido, triunfante y apasionado de la libertad del mercado. Éstas fueron algunas de las características propias de Ernesto Ayala Oliva, quien falleció ayer en esta ciudad dando origen a múltiples muestras de pesar entre el mundo empresarial y también político.
Ayala nació en Santiago en 1916. Hijo de Ricardo Ayala y Esmeralda Oliva. Como su padre era ingeniero de una empresa minera, sus primeros diez años de vida los pasó en Antofagasta, cerca de la pampa. Después volvió a la capital.
Fue educado en el Instituto Nacional y posteriormente en la Universidad de Chile, donde se graduó con honores como ingeniero civil y obtuvo una beca para cursar un posgrado en EE.UU.
La semilla de liderazgo brotó a una temprana edad para Ayala. Sus primeros años profesionales los pasó en el Ministerio de Obras Públicas -justo después del terremoto de 1939- en un cargo que puso a prueba sus capacidades de liderazgo. Pero el ingeniero no tardó mucho tiempo en dar un salto al sector privado en los años 40 y rápidamente solidificó su estatus como un referente en el ámbito económico.
En lo personal, Ayala demostró ser un hombre poco tradicional en cuanto a su estilo de vida y costumbres familiares.
"De joven me di vuelta por muchos lados, hasta que tomé una decisión y ahí me quedé. Con mi mujer tenemos 46 años de casados, aunque no celebramos los aniversarios. Hasta los cumpleaños los borré en mi casa", comentó en febrero de 1993.

la Responsabilidad Social no es filantropía ni caridad, es una actitud frente a un futuro compartido tendiente a desarrollar una sociedad inclusiva, plural y justa. Soledad Teixidó, lo sabe y lo vive. Ella preside la fundación Prohumana, una organización sin fines de lucro, que desarrolla su trabajo en el área de la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial y Ciudadana en Chile. En la práctica, Prohumana, se ha convertido en un puente entre varios actores para proponer, viabilizar y asesorar en temas en su ámbito.
Ella llegó a nuestro país, para participar en el III Foro de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial y Gobernabilidad, organizado por Seminarium y Samper Head Hunting. Compartió micrófonos con Alejandro Toledo, ex presidente peruano, para hablar del tema.
La Responsabilidad Social es un llamado amplio que convoca a gobiernos, empresariado y sociedad civil. Cada uno de ellos, en su propio ámbito, tiene un compromiso con la construcción de una sociedad mejor, más justa y con oportunidades de crecimiento para todos. El Gobierno por antonomasia es el llamado a llevar esos planes adelante, pero no es el único. Dejar esta tarea solamente en sus manos, no sólo sería iluso, sino que sería adoptar una posición cómoda. El fin de la empresa privada es trabajar por una utilidad, por el lucro. Esa verdad innegable no está peleada con una posición solidaria frente a grupos más vulnerables. La sociedad civil, el ciudadano común, también puede adoptar una participación activa frente al tema. Saber la realidad de los más frágiles de la sociedad es el primer paso para sensibilizarse frente a estos grupos. Por otra parte, cuando somos sensibles, nos convertimos en consumidores responsables, observando y exigiendo prácticas igualmente responsables a los distintos proveedores de bienes y servicios que ocupamos en nuestra vida.
Teixidó deja claro que para una acción de Responsabilidad Social efectiva, es necesario ser eficiente. Las metas planteadas deben ser tan exigibles como la de cualquier empresa, ya que la visión de su acción no es la de la simple buena voluntad. "Cuando enfocas tu solidaridad como caridad, ayudas sin estar pendiente del destino de esa ayuda. La Responsabilidad Social es diferente. Tú estás involucrada hasta el punto de saber cómo esa ayuda se está concretando y llegando a las metas planteadas". Para ello es preciso ser autosustentable. Es decir debe estar respaldada por una planificación y una gestión económicamente efectiva que permita continuar con el trabajo a través del tiempo.
La Responsabilidad Social implica algunas etapas, todas igualmente importantes: El planteamiento de las acciones, debe recoger efectivamente las necesidades de los grupos vulnerables con los que se decide trabajar. Al ver a la Responsabilidad Social no como una mera acción de Relaciones Públicas o marketing social, como un compromiso verdadero, lo que interesa es que esa acción llegue a su verdadero objetivo y a su verdadero público.
El desarrollo de esas acciones está visualizado bajo parámetros de transparencia, cooperación y reciprocidad. Ello implica que cuando se forja un proyecto de Responsabilidad Social, éste debe ser auditable, público, y con participación de los grupos involucrados que finalmente propugne el empoderamiento de grupo al que van dirigidos. ¿Qué significa esto?, Soledad lo explica fácilmente: "No queremos pescar para ti, queremos enseñarte a pescar…", con esta frase figurada, la presidenta de Prohumana propone que de los grupos favorecidos con las iniciativas surjan protagonistas que conozcan y manejen los proyectos para que con el paso del tiempo y de la capacitación correspondiente, sean ellos quienes tomen la posta del manejo de dichos proyectos.
En fin, la teoría de la Responsabilidad Social es fascinante y la práctica es más todavía. Grupos que han encontrado en propuestas bien estructuradas, no sólo una fuente de ingresos, en algunos casos, o una conciliación con el medio ambiente, sino que han fortalecido su autoestima participando de un capitalismo inclusivo que pretende así buscar y generar herramientas que mejoren las condiciones y la calidad de vida de las personas, reemplazando visiones paternalistas por alternativas eficientes de promoción humana que exploten las capacidades de las personas para su beneficio. Una propuesta interesante en la que todos, desde los distintos ámbitos, podemos estar incluidos.

| Por tercer año consecutivo se llevó a cabo la ceremonia de entrega de los resultados del Ranking "Las empresas más responsables socialmente en Chile", iniciativa desarrollada por Fundación PROhumana, en conjunto con la Confederación de la Producción y del Comercio, CPC; y Revista Capital. En esta versión 2007, se evaluó integralmente la RSE de las empresas postulantes a partir de dos frentes de evaluación: las Políticas y Programas de RSE de la empresa; y la valoración, el conocimiento y la práctica, que existe de parte de sus empleados sobre la RSE, considerando para esto tres dimensiones: Desempeño Social, Desempeño Ambiental y Desempeño Económico. En este contexto, la presidenta ejecutiva de Fundación PROhumana, Soledad Teixidó, expresó que "ciertamente los actores más relevantes dentro de la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial son los trabajadores de las empresas, por lo mismo este Ranking basa sus mediciones en el valoración, conocimiento y práctica que los mismos tienen de la RSE dentro de sus compañías". Durante marzo de 2007 se realizó la convocatoria de más de mil empresas para unirse a esta iniciativa, y a finales de ese mes se inscribieron para participar cerca de 60 empresas, las cuales tuvieron alrededor de cuatro semanas para responder los dos tipos de encuesta realizadas: aquella de trabajadores y aquella de la administración. Por otra parte, Teixidó afirmó que "una vez más hemos podido constatar que existe un interés creciente por las empresas de evaluar su desempeño en Responsabilidad Social Empresarial, ya que el número de empresas que se han presentado a participar aumenta ostensiblemente cada año. Esperamos entonces que cada vez empresas de diversos tamaño y rubro se animen a participar de esta iniciativa". Cabe destacar que gracias a los dos encuestas aplicadas (trabajadores y administración), el equipo de PROhumana pudo observar el nivel de desarrollo y los temas pendientes existente respecto de las prácticas y políticas de RSE dentro de las empresas. Para este año 2007, el Ranking "Las empresas más responsables socialmente en Chile" contó con un universo de 125.951 trabajadores, y la muestra final encuestada fue de 12.811 empleados. Es fundamental destacar que ambas encuestas fueron analizadas separadamente, permitiendo así establecer un puntaje para las políticas y programas de RSE de las empresas, establecida por la administración, y otro para la evaluación del público interno, buscando finalmente la coherencia entre ambas encuestas. En esta tercera versión del Ranking, las 15 empresas más responsables socialmente en Chile fueron: Hewlett Packard, Coca-Cola Chile, SC Johnson & Son Chile, Gerdau Aza, Banco Santander Banefe, Multiexport Food, Endesa, Banco de Crédito e Inversiones, Banco Santander, Asociación Chilena de Seguridad, Compañía Minera Pacífico, Mall Plaza, Chilectra, Compañía Siderúrgica Huachipato y Lider. Respecto de las empresas distinguidas, la presidenta ejecutiva de Fundación PROhumana explicó que "los 15 reconocidos se caracterizan por poseer áreas especialmente establecidas para implementar políticas y programas de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial, incluyendo así a la RSE en los objetivos estratégicos de la empresa. Como todos los años me gustaría también destacar y felicitar a todas las empresas que participaron de esta iniciativa, independiente de si han salido destacadas o no, ya que el evaluar su desempeño en RSE ciertamente es un paso muy grande para su negocio". Además, Teixidó afirmó que "respecto de la dimensión económica, pudimos notar que existe una baja valoración de las políticas provisionales por parte de los trabajadores de las empresas, específicamente en las subdimensiones relacionadas con ahorro provisional voluntario y planes de retiro gradual por parte de la organización. Cabe destacar que este dato coincide con la evaluación realizada el año anterior, de lo que se infiere que los trabajadores perciben que esta es una problemática que a largo plazo les traerá consecuencias negativas, y que además las empresas no han tomado un accionar respecto de este punto". Resulta interesante señalar también que la conciliación vida laboral – vida familiar aparece con una baja evaluación por parte de los trabajadores, destacando el caso de los hombres, quienes resienten más la inexistencia de prácticas en este tema. También, la presidenta ejecutiva de Fundación PROhumana añadió que "al igual que el año 2006, la dimensión medioambiental fue la que obtuvo una evaluación más baja en términos generales, respecto de la económica y la social. Esto nos indica que existe un cumplimiento legislativo del tema, sin embargo y teniendo en cuenta los sucesos medioambientales ocurridos recientemente en el país, es necesario ir más allá y ser proactivo en el tema". Fundación PROhumana es la primera organización en Chile que desarrolla una evaluación de la RSE de este tipo, entregando desde hace 9 años herramientas para integrar y desarrollar la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial dentro de los objetivos estratégicos de las compañías en nuestro país. | ||

En México existen grandes empresa creadas y desarrolladas por personas exitosas. Son competitivas en el complejo mundo de nuestra época y en el interior del país. Entre esos empresarios destacaron Emilio Azcárraga Milmo y sus descendientes; Alejo Peralta quien fue director general del Instituto Politécnico.
Con vida activa destacan actualmente Carlos Slim, de Teléfonos de México, y Lorenzo Servitje, del Grupo Bimbo.
Cada uno de los empresarios mexicanos ha tenido, y tienen los que viven, sus grandes virtudes y peculiaridades propias. Han sido creadores de grandes empresas mexicanas que deben protegerse como en los demás países.
En Estados Unidos, como en Italia, Francia, Inglaterra, China, Japón, Corea y demás naciones, protegen a sus empresas con toda la fuerza del Estado. Aunque suene a chauvinismo México ha de ser para los mexicanos prioritariamente. Entre los empresarios mexicanos merece estar en una galería de honor Lorenzo Servitje. Don Lorenzo refleja una personalidad humana. Tiene una mirada inteligente, limpia y perspicaz. Según los datos que se divulgan, don Lorenzo nació en la Ciudad de México en 1918. En 1945 fue el primer gerente de la "Panificadora Bimbo". De 1963 a 1993 presidió al Grupo Industrial Bimbo, S. A. de C. V., fue miembro distinguido de su Consejo de Administración. En su trayectoria empresarial se ha desempeñado como Vicepresidente de la Cámara de Comercio de la Ciudad de México.
Don Lorenzo fue Vicepresidente del Consejo Coordinador Empresarial, presidente del Consejo Nacional de la Publicidad y presidente de la Comisión de Estudios Sociales del Consejo Coordinador Empresarial. Ha ocupado muchos cargos. Pero su mérito principal es el desarrollo del grupo Bimbo como una empresa fuerte, competitiva, en los mercados globales. Se desempeña con sólidos valores humanos y sociales.
El grupo Bimbo tiene una amplia presencia mundial diversificada. En el exterior y en el interior del país sus principales plantas son: 25 de Bimbo; 9 de Marinela; 4 de Barcel; 6 de Ricolino y una de Moldes y Exhibidores. Tiene un total de 42 plantas en México.
En América latina, Estados Unidos, Europa y Asia tiene 32 plantas para hacer un total de 74 con las del país. Con tres comercializadoras aumentan a 77 sus plantas en México y el mundo.
Es amplia y destacada la labor filantrópica y de responsabilidad social de don Lorenzo Servitje. Ha participado como consejero y patrono en múltiples organizaciones no lucrativas de México.
Durante toda su vida ha sido un incansable promotor de la educación básica y del trabajo cimentado en valores humanos. Promueve la vinculación del sector educativo con las empresas productoras de bienes y servicios y apoya la causa de la educación como eje del desarrollo.
Don Lorenzo ha recibido múltiples premios, galardones y reconocimientos. En 1972 fue nombrado como el ejecutivo del Año por la Asociación de Ejecutivos de Ventas de México y Mercadotecnia de México.
Recibió la "Medalla de Honor al Mérito Empresarial" de la Cámara Nacional de Comercio de la Ciudad de México. En 1993 se le otorgó el Premio Nacional USEM. En 1995 recibió el Premio Eugenio Garza Sada. Don Lorenzo es dueño de una vida llena de grandeza. Es un empresario ejemplar.
